Case Study: Redwood Whiskey x Maggie Valley Collective – Designing a Signature Candle for Elevated Gifting

When Redwood Whiskey decided to expand their brand into the world of elevated gifting, they partnered with Maggie Valley Collective to create a custom-branded candle—something that could sit beautifully on a bar cart, evoke warmth, and extend the Redwood experience beyond the bottle.

Maggie, founder of Maggie Valley Collective and a past Ambrose client, facilitated the collaboration and brought us in to create the candle’s visual identity and label design. The goal was to design something masculine yet refined, rooted in the natural beauty of Northern California, while complementing both brands’ aesthetics.

We explored several directions before landing on a final label that balanced:

  • Warm, earthy tones that mirrored the richness of aged whiskey

  • Clean serif typography with vintage nods and strong shelf appeal

  • Simple, premium layout with enough breathing room to feel intentional and gift-worthy

  • Multiple design renditions to reflect seasonal drops and limited edition runs

The end result is a candle label that tells a story—crafted, timeless, and meant to elevate everyday rituals.
